As temperatures drop and indoor heating increases, your skin can lose moisture more quickly. Small seasonal changes help protect the skin barrier, prevent dryness, and keep your complexion healthy and comfortable.
Switch to a Gentle Cleanser
Use a creamy or hydrating cleanser that doesn’t strip natural oils. Avoid harsh foaming cleansers or traditional soaps, which can leave skin feeling tight or dry.
Add a Hydration Step
Introduce a serum with hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or ceramides.
A hydrating toner is optional, but it can help other products absorb more effectively.

Choose a Richer Moisturizer
Colder weather calls for a thicker face cream. Look for ingredients like ceramides, squalane, shea butter, or petrolatum to help repair the skin barrier and prevent dryness.
Apply while skin is slightly damp for best results.
Add a Facial Oil if Needed
A nourishing oil can help lock in hydration. Squalane, rosehip, or jojoba are good options for most skin types. Apply after moisturizer to seal in moisture.
Don’t Skip SPF
UV rays are still intense in winter and reflect off snow and ice. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day, even on cloudy days.
Protect Your Lips
Choose a hydrating lip balm with shea butter, lanolin, or beeswax to prevent chapping and cracking.

Upgrade Your Body Care
Winter air can dry out the entire body—not just the face. Use a richer body cream or body oil to prevent itching and irritation.
Adjust Your Exfoliation
Cut back on exfoliation to 1–2 times per week. Exfoliating too much can cause redness, irritation, or barrier damage during the colder months.
Boost Indoor Moisture
Consider using a humidifier if you find your skin gets dry indoors. Aim for an indoor humidity level of 40–60%.
With a few small changes to your routine, your skin is ready for winter.
Small habits make a big difference in colder weather. Use lukewarm (not hot) water to protect the skin barrier, cover exposed skin outdoors to reduce wind and cold exposure, and keep well hydrated throughout the day to support healthy, comfortable skin from the inside out.
